Meet the mushroom

Cordyceps is known for its energy-enhancing qualities. It’s perfect in the morning to give you long-lasting energy for the day. It’s also great before a workout to increase your endurance and performance.

Cordyceps has a slightly nutty, earthy taste.

Cordyceps, also known as the “energy mushroom”, has a bioactive compound called Cordycepin. This compound may play a role in cellular energy metabolism. It may influence the production and utilisation of adenosine triphosphate (ATP). ATP is an organic compound that provides energy to drive and support many processes in our living cells, increasing strength and power and improving body composition. (1)

Cordyceps are abundant in beta-glucans. Beta-glucans are the most vital polysaccharides found in functional mushrooms and are often cited for their potential to balance and support immune function. (2)

Cordyceps have their origins in traditional Tibet and China. Diverse variants of Cordyceps have had more than 1,500 years of use in Chinese medicine. They were first mentioned in ancient Chinese medical texts dating back to the 15th century. This fungus was primarily used to treat multiple ailments and low libido.

Chaga is thought to help support the immune system and improve overall health. Additionally, it is often found growing on birch trees in the colder regions, such as Siberia and Canada, and it's known for its unique appearance, which is a black, burnt-looking exterior.

Chaga has quite an earthy taste, similar to coffee but not as strong.

Chaga mushroom is often referred to as the "king of mushrooms" due to its potential health benefits, particularly for immune support.

Chaga mushrooms contain various bioactive compounds, including polysaccharides and beta-glucans, which are believed to have immune-stimulating effects. Chaga contains kojic acid and betulinic acid, compounds that are often used to nourish and hydrate the skin, as well as reduce the appearance of wrinkles. (1) This fungus contains a plethora of antioxidants. For instance, one cup of Chaga has the equivalent of 600 blueberries in terms of antioxidants, which may help support the immune system. (2)

Chaga, unlike coffee, doesn’t give you caffeine crashes or jitters. It may provide a slow release of energy. One rodent study performed on 64 mice showed that the mice that were given Chaga mushrooms had longer physical endurance and were fatigued less often than those that were not administered Chaga mushrooms (3).

Chaga has a long history of use in traditional medicine, particularly in Siberia, Russia, and other parts of Asia. Chaga has been used for centuries in Siberian and Russian folk medicine. It is believed that the indigenous people of Siberia were among the first to discover and use Chaga for its potential health benefits. The traditional use of Chaga was primarily for immune support, overall well-being, and to help alleviate various health conditions. Chaga was used in Finland during the Second World War as a substitute for coffee as it is native to Finnish people and has a similar earthy taste!

Lion’s Mane has been a part of East Asian cultures and has been used in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) for centuries. It was reserved for royalty and cherished by Buddhist monks.  Shaolin Buddhist monks took powdered Lion’s mane because of its cognitive powers and ability to enhance deep meditation practice.

Lion’s Mane has a light savoury taste that is similar to miso soup.

Lion's Mane, also known as the “smart mushroom”, contains compounds (hericenones and erinacines) that may support nerve and brain health. Lion’s Mane may stimulate the production of the Nerve Growth Factor (NGF) in the brain. NGF is a protein that plays a vital role in the growth, maintenance, and repair of nerve cells (neurons) in the hippocampus, a part of the brain associated with thinking, learning and emotions. (1) (2) Lion's Mane mushroom has been traditionally used in Asia for centuries as a brain tonic and to improve memory and concentration.

Lion's Mane contains bioactive compounds, including polysaccharides and beta-glucans, that may have a prebiotic effect. Prebiotics are substances that promote the growth and activity of beneficial gut bacteria. (3) By supporting a healthy balance of gut microbiota, Lion's Mane may contribute to overall gut health.

Functional mushrooms are types of fungi that are known for their health benefits beyond their nutritional compositions. The exact benefits differ depending on the mushroom. We offer 5 different functional mushrooms in Pure Powder form - Lion's Mane, Chaga, Cordyceps, Tremella and Reishi.

Since launching DIRTEA, we have made it our mission to bring the benefits of mushrooms to the world. We use only the purest and most potent organic ingredients sourced sustainably from family farms. We also pride ourselves on our meticulous quality by using a dual extraction process and vigorous 3rd party testing that results in the purest mushroom powders. Unlike some of our competitors, we insist on using 100% of the fruiting body and do not use any mycelial biomass (oats, rice or grains) as filler.

Our Mushrooms help to support your immune system, maintain healthy brain function and boost healthy skin and bones.

DIRTEA mushroom powders contain 2,000mg of mushrooms per serving.

The best time to take our Pure Powders will depend on your personal preference and the benefits you’re looking for. Most people find adding DIRTEA to their morning routine allows them to keep consistent and feel the full benefits of our mushrooms throughout the day.

Yes, our Pure Powders are 100% certified organic by the Organic Food Federation.

We recommend 2g of mushroom powder per day. However, many people enjoy combining our products to experience a range of different benefits.

Yes! We love combining our powders. Each mushroom offers a different benefit, and they actually work synergistically together, so it's a fantastic way to maximise the results.

Please consult your doctor if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, have a medical condition or are taking any medication.

It's best to store your Pure Powders at room temperature and away from direct sunlight. Avoid getting any moisture into the tin and always use a clean, dry spoon.

DIRTEA operates out of London and our products are all manufactured in the UK and are then distributed from our centre in Northampton. Our mushrooms are sourced from the best mushroom forest farms on the planet from China and Siberia.

We don’t offer samples at the moment but we hope to offer them in future.

Our products are complementary when taken together, and we love combining different DIRTEA products for their individual benefits.

There is plenty of evidence to support the benefits that functional mushrooms can offer children, but it’s worth noting there is no definitive research on the topic. Meanwhile, there is also no indication that they pose any danger to children.

We recommend it not be given to children under 10 years of age. At this early stage, children’s bodily systems are still developing and adapting to their environment.

As a general rule of thumb, it’s always a good idea to consult your child’s paediatrician before introducing any supplements into their diet particularly if they’re on medication.

No, our Pure Powders are free from allergens.

Please consult your doctor if you have a medical condition or are taking any medication.

They offer the same benefits, but our Pure Powders are easy to add into your existing routine. They’re fantastic to have on their own or can even be mixed and matched to maximise results. Whilst our Gummies are convenient, delicious and designed to be taken on-the-go. They are a sweeter alternative jam-packed with benefits.
